We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Chiller Technician to join our team. As a Chiller Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of chillers used in industrial, commercial, and residential settings. Your knowledge of chiller systems, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of cooling systems.
Responsibilities:
- Chiller Installation: Install and commission chiller units according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Ensure proper alignment, connection of refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and control systems. Perform thorough testing and inspections to verify proper functioning.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on chiller systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Clean condenser coils, replace filters, lubricate components, and inspect electrical connections. Identify and address potential issues before they develop into major problems.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and troubleshoot chiller system malfunctions, including mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify the root cause of problems. Repair or replace faulty components, such as compressors, valves, motors, and sensors.
- Refrigerant Handling: Properly handle and manage refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and safety guidelines. Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging procedures. Ensure compliance with EPA regulations and maintain accurate records of refrigerant usage.
- System Optimization: Monitor and analyze chiller system performance through data collection and analysis. Identify opportunities for system optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and cost savings. Make recommendations for system upgrades or modifications to enhance performance.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during all chiller maintenance and repair activities. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe working environment. Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of chiller maintenance, repairs, and service calls. Complete work orders, service reports, and other documentation as required. Provide detailed reports on system performance, repairs, and recommendations to clients and supervisors.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally and courteously with clients, addressing their questions and concerns. Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients on chiller system operation, maintenance, and energy-saving practices. Build strong relationships with clients based on trust and reliability.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Chiller Technician, preferably in industrial or commercial settings.
- Strong knowledge of chiller systems, including absorption, centrifugal, and scroll chillers.
- Familiarity with refrigeration principles, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Proficiency in chiller system installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Understanding of control systems and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with diagnostic tools, gauges, and meters used in chiller servicing.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety practices related to refrigerant handling.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
